When you want a laptop that is capable of running modern AAA games such as Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, Prey, Witcher 3, Battlefield 1, COD WWII, etc., you are expecting it to have a somewhat capable graphics card along with a decent 7th or 8th gen Intel Core processor. Now, this graphics card doesn’t have to be a top-of-the-line Pascal series GPU like a GTX 1070 or 1080.

It can be something as simple as a Maxwell based midrange graphics card, since most entry level gaming laptops aren’t equipped with cutting edge graphics technology, at least in the Indian laptop market. But worry not, we have carefully compiled a list of the best gaming laptops that you can purchase in India right now for less than 60,000 rupees.

To be more specific, this list covers the 50 to 60 thousand price range, since we already have a separate article that deals with gaming laptops under 50,000. In this article we shall talk about the 8 best gaming laptops under Rs.60,000. And as always, here are the primary features/ specs to look out for in a gaming laptop, in decreasing order of importance- Graphics, Processor, Display, RAM, and Storage.

Depending on the types of peripherals and mobile devices that you own, or the place that you intend to use this laptop in (college campus, home, office, etc.), you might also want to check out the I/O options before deciding on purchasing a specific model. Without further ado, let’s get started-

1. Dell Inspiron 15 5000 5567 15.6” Laptop

Overview

One of the best gaming laptops you can buy for under 60,000 rupees. The Inspiron 15 5000 is loaded with a 2TB HDD, which essentially means that you are absolutely set for storage, no need to spend extra money on an external storage device anytime soon. It is built well, and the illuminated keyboard is very comfortable to type on.

Key Specs & Features

  • check
The Intel Core i5 7200U is a dual core, hyperthreaded KabyLake based mobile CPU with a mean TDP of just 15 watts, perfect for gaming (4 threads, 3.1 GHz turbo boost frequency) and extremely power efficient
  • check
The Radeon R7 M445, although not up to par with the NVIDIA GeForce 940MX, is still more than enough for running games like Witcher 3, FIFA 2015, NFS Rivals, etc. on low settings at 1080p resolution
  • check
8GB of high speed DDR4 RAM, you can upgrade it to 16GB

With a 7th gen Intel Core i5 CPU and a Radeon R7 M445 2GB graphics card, the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 is a powerful entry level gaming laptop. It is also loaded with some really nice features such as an illuminated keyboard, a full HD 1920 X 1080 IPS display, and 802.11 AC WIFI. Sound is generated from stereo speakers designed by MaxxAudio, ensuring an elevated level of detail in the audio whether you are gaming or watching movies.

The best feature of this laptop is its giant 2TB HDD, which although slow, beats anything else that you will find in this price range in terms of internal storage capacity. Yeah, a 256 GB SSD sounds good in theory since your laptop will boot faster and games will load quicker, but wait for a couple months before that 256 GB of storage space gets filled up by videos, software, games, movies, photos, etc.

With a 2TB HDD, you don’t have to worry about getting an external storage device anytime soon. The laptop does tend to heat up while playing graphics intensive games such as Witcher 3 or GTA V, but as long as you aren’t playing on the bed or using the laptop on a mattress, heating shouldn’t be an issue.

The display is really good, colors are saturated and realistic, while contrast is much better than what you would find on a standard TFT panel. The 8GB of DDR4 RAM ensures a smooth gaming and multitasking experience, but in case you are looking forward to doing stuff like photo and video editing on this laptop, you can add an extra 8GB of DDR4 RAM later on. Windows 10 Home 64-bit comes preinstalled, along with a copy of McAfee anti-virus (1-year subscription free with the laptop).

Pros

  • Excellent dual core, 4-thread processor
  • A Radeon 2GB dedicated graphics unit which is capable of competing with NVIDIA GeForce 920M
  • The 2TB internal storage means that you don’t have to spend on an external hard drive right away
  • The audio is really crisp, thanks to MaxxAudio technology
  • A free 1-year subscription to McAfee antivirus

Cons

  • The laptop tends to heat up a little more than other similarly priced gaming laptops
  • Glossy finish on the lid tends to attract dust and fingerprints very easily

2. HP Pavilion 15-CC129TX

Overview

Need something that is fast, yet highly efficient? Meet the HP Pavilion 15-CC129TX, a laptop that does it all while looking incredibly stylish and consuming minimal power. The key to this laptop's amazing battery life is the Intel 8th gen i5 processor, and a fast charging polymer battery.

Key Specs & Features

  • check
Extreme multitasking performance while consuming very little power (4 core, 8-thread Intel CPU based on latest 8th gen architecture i.e. Coffee Lake)
  • check
The fast charge system and long battery life means you spend more time gaming and less time charging
  • check
Backlit keyboard assists with low light gaming, and the metallic finish gives this laptop a premium look

One of the best all-rounders that you can buy, the Pavilion 15-CC129TX is powered by an Intel Core i5-8250U processor. This CPU features 4 physical cores and is hyperthreaded so it is capable of processing up to 8 threads simultaneously.

The base clock is 1.6GHz, but when you start running games such as Wolfenstein II and COD WWII, that number can jump all the way up to 3.4 GHz with the help of Intel Turbo Boost. Assisted by an NVIDIA GeForce 940MX 2GB graphics card, this laptop will run almost any modern AAA game you throw at it, albeit on low to medium graphics settings.

The display has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 and has an anti-glare matte finish. Now, this is not an IPS display, so if you are interested in stuff like photo editing or if you are an avid consumer of online streaming services/ movies, you might want to check out the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 instead. However, if you are okay with a regular TN panel and slightly worse colors, then the Pavilion 15-CC129TX is one of the best performing gaming laptops under 60,000 rupees.

Average battery life is around 6 hours but can drop to 3 hours while playing games. If all you do is browse the web and work on documents, then the battery will last for up to 8 hours. And the best part is that the battery also charges up very fast, thanks to the fast charging system. There are plenty of I/O ports on the side- USB 3.1, USB 2.0, HDMI, LAN, and USB Type C. It even has an SD card slot, along with a CD/DVD drive.

Pros

  • The i5 8250U has 8 threads and 6MB cache, so applications respond faster, and you can run more of them simultaneously without lagging
  • The GeForce 940MX 2GB is one of the best graphics cards you can get in a laptop at this price
  • Full HD Anti-Glare display is perfect for gaming or watching movies
  • The 802.11 AC WIFI ensures lighting fast wireless internet, capable of speeds much higher than older b/g/n systems

Cons

  • The keyboard is great for typing, but the arrow key design is a little awkward for gaming
  • The 5400rpm HDD is slow on the boot-up

3. Acer Nitro 5 AN515-51

Overview

If you are looking for gaming performance, then this is the best laptop on the list, hands down. There is no competition, no other laptop even comes close to the Acer Nitro 5 AN515-51 in terms of raw power. Read on to know more about why this laptop is so amazing.

Key Specs & Features

  • check
Actual full-power laptop processor (Core i5 7300HQ), not a low TDP economy version designed to save power first, perform later
  • check
GTX 1050, THE ABSOLUTE BEST graphics card you can get in any laptop under 60,000 rupees
  • check
8GB of DDR4 RAM ensures a smooth gaming performance, easily upgradable to 16GB

First of all, the Acer Nitro 5 AN515-51 is powered by an Intel Core i5 7300HQ processor. For those of you who don’t know why this is important, let’s put it like this- most laptops under 60,000 rupees are equipped with what we call “low voltage” CPUs.

Intel makes two types of processors for laptops. First, you have the standard laptop processors with the suffix “HQ” at the end. Then, you have versions that consume very little power, these Intel CPUs have “U” attached to the end of the model number. HQ series processors are rated for 45 watts, while U series processors are rated for just 15 watts. So, while they consume less power and result in a lighter laptop since the cooling system doesn’t need to be as large, low-voltage processors suffer when it comes to gaming performance.

True gaming laptops such as the Acer Nitro 5 AN515-51 put performance before efficiency, which is why they use HQ series processors. The HQ series processors are usually quad-core, and also run at higher clock speeds. The i5 7300HQ is a quad core, quad thread processor (no hyperthreading) with a base clock of 2.5 GHz and a boost clock of 3.1 GHz.

And despite featuring a beefy CPU, the Nitro 5 stays very cool thanks to the amazing dual fan intelligent cooling system which employs separate fans for both the CPU and GPU. Talking of GPUs, this laptop comes with a GTX 1050 2GB GDDR5 graphics card from NVIDIA, which is on average THREE times better than the 940MX in most modern AAA games.

Pros

  • The highest performing gaming laptop you can buy in the Indian market for under 60,000 rupees
  • Extremely good multitasker
  • Stays cool even as you play the latest AAA games, thanks to Acer’s Coolerboost intelligent fan control which dynamically regulates cooler fans speeds
  • IPS display reproduces colors very accurately, and provides a wide viewing angle so you can share content in groups with ease
  • Iron red backlit gaming keyboard

Cons

  • No CD/ DVD drive
  • Can get noisy while gaming (compared to laptops that use low voltage CPUs and weaker graphics cards)

4. ASUS K510UQ-BQ667T

Overview

Slim, stylish, and equipped with a NanoEdge display- the ASUS K510Q-BQ667T is a laptop designed for casual gamers, students, and professionals. It charges very fast compared to a standard laptop and has a battery life of over 8 hours.

Key Specs & Features

  • check
Beautifully designed, glossy finish and ultra slim profile
  • check
Weighs just 1.7kg and is 19.4mm thick, so you can carry it around wherever you want and game/ work on the go
  • check

With a screen to body ratio of 80%, the ASUS K510Q-BQ667T laptop utilizes space very efficiently. The bezel is only 7.8mm wide, and the total thickness of this laptop is just 19.4mm. It weighs a mere 1.7 kg, so you can carry it around in your hands all day, no matter whether you work in an office building or are a college student. The display is stunningly accurate when it comes to colors, and this is because it uses an IPS panel.

They keyboard feels light and tactile and is illuminated for those late-night gaming sessions. With a battery life of 8 hours, and a 0 to 60% charge time of just 49 minutes, this laptop will significantly increase productivity at workplaces since you can do more with less time spent charging. It is also amazing for gaming while travelling, since you don’t have to worry about when you’ll be able to access a charging point.

ASUS Battery Health Charging technology prolongs battery lifespan and lowers battery expansion to ensure safe charging at all times. Graphics is handled by a NVIDIA GeForce 940MX 2GB graphics card, standard issue on most laptops costing between 50 and 60 thousand rupees. T

here is a 1TB HDD installed inside this laptop, and it comes with a genuine copy of Windows 10 Home 64-bit preloaded. I/O options include- USB Type C, Micro HDMI out, USB 3.0. 5. Dell Inspiron 15 5570

Overview

This laptop is equipped with the latest in processor technology and a superb entry level AMD mobile GPU to ensure a solid 1080p gaming experience for people interested in f2p/ indie games. It can run modern AAA games, but you will have to lower settings down to “low” if you intend to play on the native resolution of 1080p.

Key Specs & Features

  • check
One of the best processors you can get on any laptop at this price range- 4 cores and 8 threads, with a mean TDP of just 15 watts and a turbo frequency of 3.4 GHz
  • check
8GB of high speed DDR4 RAM, can be upgraded up to 16 GB
  • check
The Radeon 530 2GB GDDR5 graphics card based on Polaris architecture is more powerful than a NVIDIA GeForce 920M, and comes very close to a 940MX 2GB in terms of gaming performance

The Radeon 530 2GB mobile graphics card isn’t exactly the fastest option you can get at this price, nor is it designed to run games like Witcher 3 or Battlefield 1. However, you can play games such as DOTA 2 and League of Legends at max graphics settings on this laptop and enjoy a smooth 60 fps on 1080p resolution.

But just in case you want to run modern AAA titles, turn down the graphics settings to low and fiddle with resolution to see if the laptop can run the game smoothly at 1080p. The Intel 8th generation i5 processor is a beast at multitasking and is more than capable of gaming despite having a low TDP of just 15 watts.

With an internal 1TB HDD, this laptop is ready to store all your movies, photos, and software. The 8GB DDR4 RAM is perfect for gaming and multitasking, but in case you want to future proof the laptop, you have the option to add an extra 8GB DDR4 RAM stick into an empty slot located on the underside.

Windows 10 Home 64-bit comes preloaded, along with a copy of Microsoft Office (1-year subscription included). The backlit keyboard is okay for gaming, but we recommend you use an external gaming keyboard whenever you can. Battery life is superb, at over 7 hours on average. You also get a 1-year subscription of McAfee antivirus for free.

Pros

  • The Intel Core i5 8250U doesn’t pack the raw power of an i5 7300HQ, but delivers a nice balance between multitasking performance and power efficiency
  • Radeon 530 2GB GDDR5 graphics isn’t the fastest laptop GPU in this price range, but it is more than capable of running older AAA games and certain modern games on low settings at 1080p resolution
  • FHD anti-glare display is perfect for gaming or movies

Cons

  • No CD/ DVD drive
  • Webcam isn’t as good as we expected

6. HP Pavilion 15-au624tx

Overview

It desperately needs a RAM upgrade in order to qualify as a real gaming laptop, but the 4GB NVIDIA GeForce 940MX helps this laptop stay ahead of the competition despite falling short in terms of memory size.

Key Specs & Features

  • check
Core i5 7200U processor, dual core, 4 threads, 2.5GHz base clock and 3.1 GHz boost frequency
  • check
    4GB of 2133 MHz DDR4 RAM
  • check
A 4GB variant of the NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics card- might perform up to 10 or 15% better in games that require more graphics memory

Yes, it is 2018 and 4GB of DDR4 RAM is hardly what you want these days since Windows 10 alone takes up about 2GB of RAM. Add in various software and games, and you will quickly realize that 4GB of RAM isn’t nearly adequate for a modern PC. But, this laptop is also one of the cheaper ones on our list, despite featuring the 2nd best GPU we have seen on any laptop costing under 60,000 rupees- the NVIDIA GeForce 940MX 4GB model.

It is a slightly upgraded version of the standard 940MX and comes with twice the amount of dedicated VRAM. In most games you won’t be able to notice a dramatic improvement in framerates but try playing open world AAA games such as GTA V, Witcher 3, Assassins Creed, etc. and you will immediately realize how much of a difference that extra VRAM makes.

Apart from the superb GPU, this laptop packs one of the best displays you can find on any laptop at this price (1920 x 1080 resolution IPS panel). A dual core 7th gen Intel Core i5 processor takes care of multitasking, and an internal 1 TB HDD makes sure that you don’t have to spend on external storage anytime soon. Bang & Olufsen premium audio is a treat to have on any laptop, and makes your movie viewing experience twice as good.

Pros

  • 7th gen i5 processor with 4 threads is good for running any modern AAA game and is also very efficient
  • Full HD IPS display with superb color and contrast, you can use it for gaming, movies, and photo editing
  • Audio output is better than most other laptops we have tested in the 50 to 60k price range
  • The backlit keyboard is amazing in low light gaming scenarios, and is a pleasure to type on thanks to the tactile keypresses and easy to read font
  • Dual band WIFI ensures that you enjoy maximum internet speeds no matter how close or far you are from the router

Cons

  • The 4GB of RAM is a little bit of a concern, we recommend you upgrade to 8GB of RAM to enjoy a large boost in performance (especially if you plan on running GTA V or Witcher 3)
  • The surface picks up fingerprints and dust quite easily

7. Lenovo IdeaPad 520 15.6” Laptop

Overview

Powered by an Intel Core i5 7200U processor and featuring NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics, the Lenovo IP 520 is a brilliant gaming machine hidden underneath the cover of an unordinary office/ college laptop.

Key Specs & Features

  • check
Core i5 7200U processor, 2 cores and 4 threads with base and boost clocks of 2.5 and 3.1 GHz respectively
  • check
Harman Audio ensures superior sound quality in both games and movies
  • check
    Fingerprint sensor for greater security

The looks and fingerprint sensor might make you think this is a laptop intended primarily for professionals and students. But you couldn’t be more mistaken- it is powered by an excellent dual core, 4-thread 7th gen Intel CPU and comes with a NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics card.

While dedicated graphics certainly helps with making that college presentation or office spreadsheet, we can’t help asking why you wouldn’t play the latest games on a 2GB NVIDIA graphics card. It is not a top of the line GPU, but more than sufficient for playing games like Battlefield 1, Prey, COD Infinite Warfare, NFS Rivals, etc.

The processor and graphics card aren’t the only outstanding features on this Lenovo laptop, you are surely going to love the brilliant 15.6” full HD IPS display that makes movies and games look so much better with its amazing colors and wide viewing angles. A 1TB 5400 rpm HDD takes care of mass storage needs, while dual band AC WIFI ensures super-fast wireless connectivity.

Pros

  • Intel 7th gen Core i5 processor and NVIDIA GeForce 940MX 4GB graphics ensure a smooth gaming experience on low settings and 1080p resolution
  • Comes with 8GB of DDR4 RAM, which you can expand up to 16 GB (1 free slot)
  • Solidly built, with a sturdy plastic housing and thick hinges to connect the display with the body.
  • Keyboard is better than the one you will find on HP or Dell models, if you are going to do a lot of typing
  • The fingerprint sensor is a great additional security measure, also allows you to unlock the laptop faster compared to typing in a password

Cons

  • Battery life drops under 3 hours while gaming (otherwise, average battery life under normal non-gaming workloads should be 5-6 hours)
  • The speakers are located in a front-bottom position, and can get muffled if you use the laptop on a bed or mattress

8. HP Pavilion 15g-br011TX

Overview

The most affordable gaming laptop on our list, we saved it for the last. Not because it is cheaper than the others, but because we believe it offers excellent value for money

Key Specs & Features

  • check
Core i5 7200U KabyLake mobile processor, 15-watt TDP and 4 threads, with 3.1 GHz turbo frequency
  • check
Radeon 520 graphics, can be considered on par with the low-end NVIDIA GeForce 920M laptop GPU
  • check
Low light technology, Miracast compatible, fast charge

If you can get past the fact that this laptop has a 1366 x 768 display, then the Pavilion 15g-br011tx is by all means a perfectly good entry level gaming laptop for the Indian market. It is equipped with a 7th generation Intel Core i5 processor, the 7200U. This dual core processor has a base clock of 2.5GHz with a boost clock of 3.1 GHz.

It is hyperthreaded, so multitasking is an absolutely amazing experience on this Pavilion laptop. And since it is a low voltage CPU, the battery lasts longer than it would on a standard laptop (about 7 to 8 hours on average, 3 to 4 hours while gaming). The Pavilion 15g-br011tx is compatible with Miramax certified devices and also supports fast charging.

The HP TrueVision HD webcam combined with Low Light technology makes this an amazing laptop for video calls, and online conferences. It is also loaded with a 1 TB HDD, so you can store all your favorite games, movies, and photos on one place without the need for an external hard disk drive.

But take note that this is a 5400 rpm HDD, so it will be a little slower than the 7200 RPM  drives found on more expensive gaming laptops. Booting up can take a while, and certain games will take a lot of time to load up. But once you have loaded into the game, performance is going to be really smooth thanks to the AMD Radeon 520 2GB dedicated graphics.

Pros

  • Full size island style backlit keyboard
  • The multi-gesture touchpad is one of the best we have seen on any laptop under 60k rupees
  • Excellent value for price, barely costs over 50k rupees and is equipped with a 7th generation i5 processor as well as Radeon 2GB dedicated graphics
  • Preloaded with Microsoft Office

Cons

  • 1366 x 768 display resolution, okay for gaming on low settings, not good for movies or photo editing
  • The 1TB 5400 rpm HDD is a bit on the slow side, noticeable when you try to boot up this laptop

Conclusion:

One shoe size doesn’t fit everyone, and even though we tried to cover a variety of configurations within the 50k to 60k price range, your requirements as an individual will dictate which laptop is the best option for you. Now, we are fully aware that many of the prospective customers who are reading this article aren’t just looking to game, but also create content and do office/ college work on their laptops.

So, we suggest that you take everything into account before making the purchase. For example, think about stuff like this- do you need a full HD display for movies and photo/ video editing, or can you manage with a 768p screen. If you are primarily concerned with gaming on low graphics settings, and doing programming or web browsing, then a 768p display is perfectly fine considering our 60,000-rupee budget.

Further, do you own an external storage device, or plan on purchasing one? An external 2TB hard disk drive can cost you anywhere between 5800 to 6500 rupees. If you can’t afford that kind of money on an external hard drive, perhaps you should go for the laptop that comes with a 2TB internal HDD instead of a model that features a 256 GB SSD.

Are you going to be travelling a lot, or will you be using the laptop within a college dorm/ at your home? In case you plan on using the laptop while travelling, get a model that is lightweight and has good battery life.
